CAUTION:  Some of the "sayings" and poems will contain profanity, language, and opinions that will not agree with all (including myself), but don't get "caught-up" or "put-off" before you understand the overall profound message (which is the reason for their inclusion on this website).
Let them poetically speak and try to take away something meaningful.

. . .  A poet writes in her own language. A poet writes of her own people, her own history, her own vision, her own room, her own house where she sits at her own table quietly placing one word after another word until she builds a line and a movement and an image and a meaning that somersaults all of these into the singing, the absolutely individual voice of the poet: at liberty. A poet is somebody free. A poet is someone at home . . .

"Embrace who you are and explore all those many parts of who you are, who you would like to be, and where the root of that image comes from daily.  Don’t be afraid to grow and develop your craft. Seek out supportive individuals who are productive to the woman you envision. Remember that one part of yourself doesn’t negate other parts of yourself.  There’s no one way to be a woman. We are magical in that we possess all the possibilities in the world.  Channel that strength and conjure the greatness in each other." -- Aja Monet  http://thosegirlsarewild.com/?p=3422

Can You Be Read Like A Book?

Picture

"There’s so much stigma around poets being “[incense] holding, dashiki wearin’, snappin’ fingers, vegetarian type holy figures,” but it’s just not true. Poets are people of so many ranges.  People have their own vices and their own modes of partying or having a good time; poets are no different. We’re people learning to give meaning to this world in ways others don’t normally. Our experience is what makes us magnificent writers or can be what limits us."

What's Your Attitude?
Does it need changing?

Poetic Voices

Whether it be through  poetic words that you wrote,
A musical note, an inspirational quote, casting yo' vote.
Let Your Voice Be Heard.

Whether it be through the way you carry yo' self,
Sign Language if you deaf, help those who need help,
Let Your Voice Be Heard.

Whether it be through taking a stand,
Acting like strong women and men, advising a friend,
Let Your Voice Be Heard.

Whether it be on a mic on a stage, radio, televison,
Written page, you can be young or old in age,
Let Your Voice Be Heard.

Whether it be on the streets, or to a musical beat,
In victory or defeat,  your words let them speak.
Let Your Voice Be Heard.

But watch what you say, the goal is love not hate,
This is no opinion, no debate, so start now, do not wait.
Let Your Voice Be Heard.

After reading the below quote, I wonder who determines what is considered pretty and what is considered beautiful.  However the rest of quotes universally holds truth.
